POSITION                                                         Sterile Compounding Specialist – Registered Lead
COMPANY AND LOCATION                         Aved, Head Office
EMPLOYMENT TYPE                                     Full-Time
HOURS WORKED                                         37.5 hours / week. Rotating shifts between the hours of 6AM-8PM, Sunday to Friday

REPORTING TO                                               Compounding Team Manager

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sterile Compounding Specialist – Registered Lead will take on a leadership role for the Compounding Team and assist the Compounding Team Manager with the day-to-day duties of the department.
 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with the training of new hires - providing feedback to new employees
  • Retraining of existing staff as needed
  • Conducting GFS and Media fills
  • Providing oversight and guidance within the clean room during compounding, cleaning etc.
  • Maintain up to date on changes to NAPRA and USP
  • Communicate with management any concerns in regards to preparation schedule, training, procedures, equipment etc.
  • Compound sterile pharmaceutical preparation using aseptic technique and following standard operating procedures and NAPRA, USP <797> and USP <800> standards
  • Document details of the process when compounding in the sterile clean rooms
  • Sterilize equipment and instruments as required
  • Submit to regularly scheduled garbing competency and glove fingertip testing, and conduct media fill tests
  • Use, clean and maintain all equipment
  • Monitor and maintain records for clean room facilities and equipment as required.
  • Clean and maintain the sterile clean rooms
  • Conduct air sampling, surface sampling and wipe sampling.
  • Prep and stage devices as needed
  • Maintain product inventory, including completing inventory counts and checking expiry dates
  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently a Registered Pharmacy Technician in good standing with the college
  • 1+ years experience in compounding preferred Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Standing for long periods of the day
  • Working inside a sterile cleanroom for long periods of the day
  • Working with hazardous materials in a hazardous sterile environment
